Kibi Dango is a traditional Japanese dumpling, made from millet flour and has been eaten in Japan since the 1800s. It is featured heavily in the Japanese folklore tale of Momotaro (Peach Boy).
In this story, Momotaro came to Earth inside a giant peach and after being raised by a local couple, left to fight an entire island of demons. To aid in his quest, he made friends with a dog, phesant and a monkey by giving them each a Kibi Dango. This is the image you see on the wrapper.
